FIRST NATION CULTURE AND GRIZZLY BEAR TOUR
- Let nature dazzle your senses. This is the ultimate First Nations culture and nature tour.
Join us for a day of Cultural Marine and Wildlife viewing adventure to North Vancouver Island where the
Island coast line is in close proximity to the mainland of British Columbia. This provides the
opportunity to safely view Coastal Grizzly Bear and Black Bear.
On our Grizzly Bear Watching journey we travel onboard a comfortable covered vessel to the Orford River Valley located in picturesque Bute Inlet.
This pristine river valley is home to 40 resident Grizzly bears and is also the historic home of the Homalco First Nation, one of the Coast Salish Tribes.
Upon arrival you will be greeted by the Homalco aboriginal guides. We then travel along the Orford River Valley by mini bus to the security of specially
designed Grizzly bear viewing platforms, situated along the river in various locations for maximum grizzly bear viewing. You’ll have the opportunity to
witness the ancient autumn ritual of grizzly bears feasting on spawning salmon in the Canada’s true wilderness. The bear viewing platforms offer security
so you can fully enjoy this glimpse into the lives of these great bears in their natural habitat. This magnificent river offers panoramic views.
Three hours are spent in the river valley at various bear viewing platforms. Here you will observe a beautiful rainforest area and its fierce residents, the
grizzly bear, fattening up on salmon in preparation for the long winter. The Aboriginal Guides are licensed and trained to carry firearms in order to ensure
guest safety and protection. Your specially trained bear viewing guides take every precaution, allowing you to enjoy this once in a lifetime experience.
On this journey we may also observe killer whales, dolphins, eagles and other wildlife in their natural environment
A day with the Homalco First Nations people and the Bears of Bute Inlet is truly an experience unique in this world.
